Water Quantity and Quality Monitoring

In partnership with Nechako First Nations, the UFFCA has collected several years of high-quality water quantity and quality data, which is now being directly applied in planning and implementation for critical projects including emergency conservation enhancement and habitat restoration.

Endako Weir Project

The UFFCA is partnering with the T’sil Kaz Koh and Stellat’en First Nations to improve critical spawning habitat for highly vulnerable Endako Chinook and kokanee. The weir project will help to stabilize flows to the Endako River during spawning and egg incubation periods to improve survival for the next generation of fish that call the Endako home.

Nithi Weir Project

The UFFCA has taken on the management of the Nithi Weir, which helps to create live water storage to support adequate flows, prevent dewatering, improve fish habitat, and support fish passage.

Habitat Restoration Projects

In partnership with local First Nations, government, ENGOs and multiple other partners, the UFFCA is using bioengineering techniques to repair and restore sensitive riparian areas along the Chilako River to improve and increase available habitat for fish.
